Devotional #15: When Things Work Together
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
Have you ever tried baking cookies? You start with a bunch of different ingredients: sugar, flour, eggs, and maybe some chocolate chips. Separately, they don't taste great. But when you mix them all together and bake them, they turn into delicious cookies!
Romans 8:28 is a bit like baking cookies. It says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Sometimes, life hands us different 'ingredients': happy moments, difficult times, or even boring days. On their own, they may not make sense. But God, like a master baker, is able to mix them all together and create something good.
In our families, we experience all sorts of 'ingredients' too. But no matter what, we can trust that God is working everything out for our good.
This week, let's remember that God is working all things together for our good, just like ingredients in a cookie recipe. Let's trust Him, love Him, and look for the 'cookies' He is making in our lives.
Family Discussion Question:
Can you think of a time when something difficult or confusing turned out for good? How can we remind each other to trust that God is working all things for our good?
