Devotional #1: Our Family Team
"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."Joshua 24:15
Have you ever heard someone say, "Teamwork makes the dream work?" Well, Joshua had a similar idea, but about his family. He said, "As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord." That was his way of saying his family is on Team God!
Every day, we make lots of choices. It's like picking teams in a game. Do we choose Team Love or Team Anger? Team Patience or Team Impatience? Team Kindness or Team Meanness? The most important choice is if we pick Team God.
Jesus told us we don't have to wait to go to heaven to experience the life of heaven. We can bring heaven to earth by choosing to live like Jesus every day.
So, what does it mean to be on Team God? It means choosing to love like Jesus, to help others, and to say "no" to things that hurt us or others. When we do these things, we're letting God's love shine through us.
This week, let's make choices that show we're on Team God. When we choose patience, kindness, and love, we're saying, "Our family is on Team God." Let's be a strong family, choosing God's way every day!
